Current Resource list:
1) Monetary resource, I have liquid cash in the bank.
2) My connection with the current juice manager at a potential competitor.
3) My connection with a current expert on the segment that I am trying to infiltrate
4) My connection with a healthy food supplier in Miami
5) Current connection with Panhelenic and IFC executive boards for connection to the greek community at uf.
6) I am currently in no student loan debt, I would classify this as financial capital.
7) I have a very flexible schedule which I would call a capital.
8) I have a wide knowledge set on running a business, so it would not take me long to learn.
9) I have the knowledge of what has gone right and wrong in the current acai establishments.
10) I have very good people skills that I would consider a capability.
VRIN:
1) Very valuable. It is rare to have strong support financially at such a young age. It is not imitable, only if you have the same monetary backing. No other resource can provide the same backing.
2) This I would consider to be extremely valuable. I would say that it is more unlikely for you to have connections like this. This is not hard to copy by others if they network properly. This is substitutable.
3) More valuable than I originally thought. I think that it is exceedingly rare at such a young age to have a personal connection to someone in the industry. This isn't necessarily hard to replicate, but it is not easy to get. I think that it is substitutable.
4) This is somewhat valuable as far as information but not as much in Gainesville. Somewhat rare. Not necessarily hard to replicate. Also it is substitutable.
5) This is extremely valuable in Gainesville. It is unlikely to have this. It is imitable. No other resource in Gainesville can provide the same backing.
6) This is extremely valuable. It is unlikely to be in this situation in college. This is impossible to replicate, it is just a situation you are in. This is non-substitutable.
7) This is somewhat valuable. This is not a rare situation to be in while you are in college. It is not hard to replicate. This is non-substitutable.
8) This is extremely valuable when running a business in undergrad. This is rare, to have this first hand knowledge so early in life. Impossible to replicate. This is non-substitutable.
9) This is possibly the most valuable asset I have. It is exceedingly rare to have knowledge about the market that you are entering. This is hard to replicate. This is also non-substitutable.
10) This is extremely important. not that rare. Very easy to replicate. And this is substitutable.
I believe my top resource is the #9 resource. I think it is important because because having the knowledge of the market before you even walk through the door is vital to the success of the company.

Nick,
ReplyDeleteI think having a connection with a healthy food supplier in Miami is a really good connection. You will be able to find out a lot of information on what people are buying. Having this knowledge will allow you to target certain foods when giving out options for your açaí bowls.
Nick I think you did a good job assessing what resources you have. You did a great job of being to the point and explaining how each resource is valuable to you. I think most of these resources will help you in your venture and agree that knowledge of past failures and successes will help you take the best approach going forward.
